Kelly Kits ( @kellykitsart ) – Creativity Through the Mail

Kelly Kits began about 4 1/2 years ago right before the owner’s second daughter Violet was born. A dear friend of the owner’s daughter was about to turn two and she was gift shopping. So she asked her friend what kind of gifts she was interested in. She said, “You know, we just have so many clothes and toys already, what I really need is something fun and creative I can do with my daughter.” The owner’s brain exploded at the word creative and she set to work on creating a box filled with age appropriate art play activities. Each activity was conveniently packaged in a ziplock baggie containing every possible ingredient and and instruction card. She knew her friend and her love of convenience products, so she wanted to make it as EASY as possible for her to grab a “baggie” and sit down at the table for some quality fun time.

Kelly Kits is an all inclusive art play curriculum for children 2-102. Every art play activity focuses on a simple art techniques in painting, sculpting, drawing, print-making, and collage. Their subscription features one kit a month with access to contests, online community and instructional videos for only $9.99 – shipping and handling included!!! The owner wants to challenge parents to spend quality time their their children. Kelly Kits is as much about art play as it is creating bonding moments for parents and children thus helping to create stronger, healthier, happier families.

My Take on the Kits

The kit I am reviewing is one to make “clay” or something similar to ”play dough”. The kit arrived with the step by step directions which were also illustrated. They were easy to follow and provided all the information I needed to know to make sure I made the “clay” correctly. The process was easy and did not take much time. My daughter was visiting her grandmother so I had this available for them to do together. Diva-PJ was eager to create something with the “clay”. She decided to use some of my cookie cutters to produce shapes. She totally enjoyed the experience. After she was done, we packed up the “clay” in a zip lock bag and she took it home where she will use it again.

I will add that when I mixed the “clay ” mixture in the bowl, I was concerned that the clay left in the bowl would not clean properly. This is non toxic and I just put some water in the bowl and let it sit and the small amount of “clay” left in the bowl dissolved. I would love to see the other kits that Kelly Kits has to offer.
I encourage you to to check out their creative kits and get creative with your kids today! You can find out more here!
