When you have kids you definitely have had had experiences that you will not forget. There have been many with me thus far and I know that there will be many to come as well. I was thinking about this the other day and I started to laugh when I thought about some of the funny experiences and realized that a number of these experiences revolved around the dinner table. There is just something about being at a dinner table that can the giggles flowing (at least at my house).
One of the funniest experiences that I can remember happened before we had our second child and my eldest and I were having dinner together. She had been playing hard all day and I knew that she was tired, but I still made her favorite dinner because I wanted to her to eat and then it would be off to bed. Things were going well, dinner was made and I served it up and we started to eat. Yet, soon into dinner I could tell that Diva-J was getting more and more tired, but she was eating. I went to the refrigerator for something quick and when I returned, I found my daughter sleeping in her spaghetti. I raised her head and tried to talk to her and then her head just fell forward yet again (this time I caught it). I just had to laugh out loud. Needless to say I ended up cleaning her up and getting her to bed, but all-in-all that made my night.
Looking back at this I realize that it is usually the small things that are memorable, conversations, jokes, words, rituals, all can make for an amazing family experience and life together. I love having time myself to spend with my kids alone and with J-Mom, but the times that I have by myself are even more special and ones that I treasure. When I speak to other fathers they too agree with me on this. What do you say? So take a moment this week and get out, or stay in, but take time with your kids and simply have fun!

Funny Dinner with Dad moments. Man I don’t have any with my own Dad but as a dad I have a ton of funny moments with my daughter, she cracks me up whenever we go out. Does that count?

I don’t have my dad but my husband is a wonderful dad and there are a lot of funny moments at the dinner table. The other day we had Papa John’s pizza for dinner and my older son had to go to the bathroom afterwards. He came back to the table and said, they should call it “Poopoo John’s Pizza”. The kids cracked up laughing for at least 2 minutes.

I just love when my daughter squished a tomato all over my husband’s work khakis while we were out to lunch on a work day! We still laugh about it. It was a like a water spout going 2 feet in an arch right onto his pants.

As an expecting first time parent, I don’t have a funny dining moment yet, but I’m enjoying reading all of yours! Thanks for sharing!
My dad is definitely a character I tell you. He’s the one always telling a joke, story or just saying something to make everyone laugh. I guess that’s where I get my humor from. I would say one of the funniest moments would be when he would ask the waitress for some type of food that wouldn’t even be on the menu. He had her puzzled for a minute then we all started laughing.

One night for my birthday, my dad took to a local restaurant. He had a surprise dinner planned, and some of my friends were waiting at the restaurant. My sister showed up about 5 minutes before I did. My sister and I look very similar. So the party threw a huge surprise, but for the wrong person. By the time I showed up with my dad the good surprise had already been wasted. It was hilarious.

dad and our whole family went out to eat at a vietnamese resturant, (my mom is vietnamese). My mom taught my dad a sentence “happy fathers day” < in vietnamese. My dad got really excited and wanted to say it to someone, so were sitting in our chairs waiting for the food and a guy that appears to be Vietnamese is sitting next to us with his co worker, so my dad says "ngày h?nh phúc c?a ng??i cha" to the guy and the guy says "uhm…i dont speak that language…i only speak english sir…sorry for the disappointment" my dad got so embarrassed it so was funny! the guy looked really offended
haha!

The best dinner I had with my dh (who is a dad) is when we were in Borneo, and we had dinner with the minister of Tourism from Malaysia. It was such a wonderful surprise from a wonderful man.

My father thinks he’s hysterical. I think I am hysterical. We both are a comedy act almost anywhere we go. Once at the airport my dad asks me to get a bagel with cream cheese, I get it, come back and inform him that they put the cream cheese on themselves (he had given me very specific instructions)…he looks up at me earnestly and says “They tend to do that.” I just doubled over laughing, he looked like a Susie homemaker type stating that dinner was ready-the expression, tone of voice, and scenario were all so perfect. It would have been “just funny” if he hadn’t started laughing and dropped the darn bagel on my black skirt…the cream cheese left a white streak all the way down my skirt-I had to stay in that skirt for a 6 hour flight and a 2 hour drive to the hotel…my dad is still pleased with himself. edysicecreamlover18@gmail.com

I can’t remember a specific time, but my dad always picks on the waitress or waiter everytime we’ve ever went to a resturant! I feel sorry for whomever gets our table!

My funniest dad dinner story is when we went to a steakhouse and my dad got mad because they put cheese on his salad! He completely turned away from the table and his salad and refused to look at it. It wasn’t funny at the time though!

My dad would always take the bill at the end of a meal out and shake it in his hand as if the price of the meal surprised him LOL. He did it everytime when we were kids but it was still funny. Thanks for the great giveaway!

my daughter loves to eat out with her dad and I. She also insists on reading her order from the menu to the server. Growing up, it has been fun watching her ask for pisgetthi (spaghetti) and other foods with funny not easy to pronounce names. (malley for tamales, toast for tostadas etc…) we eat at lots of ethic restaurants and part of the fun is watching to see what she will ask for next, and how she will pronounce it. Now that she’s older, it’s getting better, but there were some red faced moments in the past!

I remember when daughter #1 was very little we went out for dinner for the first time with her: Too young to sit the high chair was no an option, the baby carrier din’t fit in the narrow booths so we ended up placing her on the table – taking up most of the space
