Dinner with Dad… Always an Adventure – Thoughts & a Giveaway

When you have kids you definitely have had had experiences that you will not forget. There have been many with me thus far and I know that there will be many to come as well. I was thinking about this the other day and I started to laugh when I thought about some of the funny experiences and realized that a number of these experiences revolved around the dinner table. There is just something about being at a dinner table that can the giggles flowing (at least at my house).

One of the funniest experiences that I can remember happened before we had our second child and my eldest and I were having dinner together. She had been playing hard all day and I knew that she was tired, but I still made her favorite dinner because I wanted to her to eat and then it would be off to bed. Things were going well, dinner was made and I served it up and we started to eat. Yet, soon into dinner I could tell that Diva-J was getting more and more tired, but she was eating. I went to the refrigerator for something quick and when I returned, I found my daughter sleeping in her spaghetti. I raised her head and tried to talk to her and then her head just fell forward yet again (this time I caught it). I just had to laugh out loud. Needless to say I ended up cleaning her up and getting her to bed, but all-in-all that made my night.

Looking back at this I realize that it is usually the small things that are memorable, conversations, jokes, words, rituals, all can make for an amazing family experience and life together. I love having time myself to spend with my kids alone and with J-Mom, but the times that I have by myself are even more special and ones that I treasure. When I speak to other fathers they too agree with me on this. What do you say? So take a moment this week and get out, or stay in, but take time with your kids and simply have fun!
