As baseball season comes into full swing, kids can kick-off their favorite sport with 2014 Topps Baseball Series 1 cards by learning about the exciting new rookies, while also looking back at the greatest players of today and yesterday. I grew up collecting Topps baseball cards, and I still have the cards that I collected in the years that ranged from about 1984-1988 (or so). I was always so excited to be able to collect the cards, getting the packs of cards and hoping amongst hope that I would receive the cards that I needed when I opened the pack. I did not usually purchase the entire set of cards, but collected the cards pack by pack, and this was just part of the fun of collecting. Granted there were times when you got let down because you did not get the cards that you really wanted, but I always looked at this as an opportunity to trade cards with friends which was always fun too!
Being a father of girls I have brought my girls to baseball games, but I have not really introduced them to baseball cards, except for the ones that I have myself. This opportunity with Topps was a a fun one as it allowed me to be able to give them the opportunity to have the joy of opening up the cards for themselves and see who they would receive, read about the players and get bit by the baseball card bug per se. In letting them open the packs for themselves they loved the suspense and anticipation of opening their packs. I had to explain to them about the fact that the cards were a part of a larger set that you collect so that they could better understand the scope of the collecting. Otherwise, they had a blast with this and I think they are now interested in getting into collecting cards more often now. If you have never experiences Topps before, you should as they have a rich history of being in the baseball card business, and to be honest they do it right in my perspective!
