I am continually working with my kids to help them to be able to be people that give back to the community that they live in. I have been lucky enough to be able to work with some brands in the past that have allowed me to be able to do this and to get my children involved.
Odwalla, a brand that I tried in the past truly love is working with a program called Champions for Kids that works to works to mobilize MILLIONS of people by providing training and resources to improve the lives of children in communities across America and beyond. Their goal is to mobilize 20 Million people by 2020. One of the ways in which they are trying to mobilize individuals is through providing healthy breakfast options for all children once they leave school for the summer.
I know that even in my own community we have over 70 families who rely on our local food bank to be able to have the food they need throughout the year. Many of the kids in the family’s attend the same schools as my own and they rely on the breakfast food that they receive at school and the free and reduced lunches that they receive to supplement the food that they receive from our food bank.

With that in mind I set out to again have my kids make a difference in our local community by going out and purchasing Odwalla products for our local food bank to donate to help feed these children over the summer. On top of the list we also reached out to all of the second grade classrooms in my daughter’s elementary school to begin a few week process to collect breakfast items that could be donated by a second graders and their families to the food bank – again to support their efforts on feeding families that really need it in our community.

The shopping process itself went pretty well and we went to our local Super Walmart which is about 15 minutes away from our home. In entering the store I did have some difficulty finding the products that I was looking for, but I ended up finding the Odwalla bars themselves in the produce section of the store. I would not have originally thought to look here, but knowing how natural the products are, it seems to make more sense that this is where they were now that I think about it. On top of the bars, I was also looking for the new juice boxes that they are carrying for kids, but my store did not carry this, and the only beverage that they did carry was not one that I thought would stay good for the time that I needed it to.

I was impressed with the variety of bars that were available from Odwalla, and in looking at the nutritional content I was also very impressed. My kids and I snacked on an extra bar that we purchased and the kids devoured it (a good sign for the kids that are going to be receiving these at our local food bank.

This past weekend was the spring food drive for our Food Bank so this project fit in nicely with that. We went though the house looking for any other food that we could donate and found some extra as well. After a full morning of Soccer, we ventured over to our Food Bank to deliver our food.

The Director of our local Food Bank is always excited to see my kids and I as she knows that we always bring some fun things. She was quite happy with the delivery that we made on this visit as well as she mentioned that this was the first time that people have brought this type of food in and she thought it would be a great addition to the food that they were planning to give out in the near future to the local families utilizing their services.

At the end of all of this my eldest daughter came to me and said, can we do something like this again? As you can tell this was a proud dad moment and we are now looking for future ways to engage with both the food bank as well as in other areas in the future. I am hopeful that the second grade project will be successful as well as I know that this will be a big hit with them as well once we get them all involved!

For me, my style is somewhat consistent as I have not changed size for some time, nor have I changed my style per se in many years. There are even clothes that I still have that I had since high school to the consternation of my wife in many circumstances. It is not that I am against new clothes, but it is always hard for me to get rid of clothes that are still in good shape. That being said though, I work in a place where I have to dress in professional dress on a daily basis and with this in mind I find that I am needing to purchase more dress clothes on a more regular basis because of clothes not lasting as long as I would like.
them. In saying this, I was excited to explore and shop at
I went to the website to see what it had to offer and was quite impressed with the over crisp clean look and feel of the site. It was so easy to find what I was looking for, not only in the sense of size, but also style and color too. As a person of smaller stature, I sometimes have difficulty finding my exact size, but I was happy to see that this was not the case when it came to this site. They had a large selection of things in my size. I was also surprised to find that Brooks Brothers had so much more than just Mens Clothing as this was the only line that I had been introduced to in the past. I also was surprised to find that they not only had clothes, but they also home goods too.

What Is Brave Woman?
What Is Brave Woman?
As I said in
So when I got home (and after a bit of a resting period) I began pulling out the Christmas decorations and figuring out what I would want to put outside (outside of the items I had already purchased from Sears). As I started to pull them out and starting installing them, I found that I could really use more lights that I had initially purchased. I still moved forward, but I did wish that I could have more.
Installation of the lights was easy and I loved the handy light reel that they came on as it made for easy unraveling and I am sure it will make it that much more easy to take the lights down too. Putting together the snoopy that I purchased at Sears was also easy, though I found that I needed something heavier than the small stakes that we received in the box to hold it down in the wind that we sometimes get at our house.
As I finished hanging a wreath and some garland on the outside of my house the sun was just starting to set so I was excited to try out the lights to see how it all looked. I knew that I was a bit short on lights (at least in my perspective) but I continued with vigor and knew that it would look great. As the sun dipped below the horizon I synchronized our timers and turned on the lights and found that the lights looked quite good. I still would have liked to have had more lights, but with what I had it looked very good and the family agreed.
Christmas in our house is always one of my favorite times in the year. We love going all out in decorating inside and outside. Lately thought I have been having some challenges with our outdoor lights in regards to the fact that our lights kept going out and every year it seemed like more and more of them would show up as not working (so frustrating).
I decided to be a bit crazy and get up at the crack of dawn for black friday sales seeing that Sears had their 200 count LED lights at 50% off. Getting up at 3:30 in the morning is not what I call my cup of tea, but I did it none-the-less because I like to save money (I am a bit frugal you know).
Sears was opening their doors at 4:00 AM so I wanted to be there toward the beginning so I could be sure to receive the lights that I wanted. When I got to the store the parking lot was a bit packed, but the doors had just opened and everyone was already inside so I jumped into the craziness.
Amazingly, there was no one in the holiday shop when I got there. I think everyone had gone directly to the craftsman tools or other items, as I was left to shop in peace. The only issue was the fact that there were no carts and thus carrying 6-7 reels of lights was no fun! I looked around for a bit looking for the lights and then found that they had been placed on an endcap (right in front of the nose on my face if you were).
Seeing that I never purchased LED lights before I had to do a bit of comparison shopping as there were two types of LED lights so I had to test them both out. One was much more harsh and stark white than the other and with that in mind I decided to purchase the warm white lights as I thought they would be more similar to what we have had in the past. The only challenge that I found was figuring out how many strands I would need to purchase. I ended up purchasing 5 strands as I thought that this would be enough at the time.
At the same time I saw an animate Snoopy and Woodstock that was just too cool, so I ended up splurging and getting our first item that was animated for our outside decor, I knew that my kids would just love it when I brought it home and installed it!
I got lucky in checking out as I also purchased a jewelry armoire for my wife and thus when I was in the furniture department that were good enough to be willing to let me check out there (no line) and I did not have to wait in the line that had at least 100 people within it (how luck am I).
Overall, I was impressed with the size, breadth and depth of holiday decorations that Sears had in their Holiday Shop. I would highly recommend that if you are looking for some great holiday decorations that you take a look at Sears as one of your first stops this holiday season.
I have had the same phone for quite some time and it is getting to the point where I can no longer even understand what people are saying when I talk to them because of the internal speaker and problems with it. I have been contemplating upgrading to a data plan and a more robust smart phone but have been hesitant due to price. Thus, I decided to do some research on smart phone that were on the market on my carrier (Sprint).

I have always been the type of person that wants to make sure that my cars last a long time and living in Michigan I have a harder time with this, especially with the salt that they use on the roads in the winter, talk about breaking down the undercarriage of my car!

We shopped at Walmart for all of our candy that we needed. We stocked up on Mars Brand Candy and even found some other fun Halloween pencils and plastic fangs and a few other fun items as we wanted it to be fun for the kids. Our daughters were completely into this!y, but it also is about giving as well.
The kids had a blast putting together the bags themselves and last Friday we took all of the bags to the Hospital itself. The kids were a bit nervous at first as they did not know what to expect, but once we were there they saw that the kids were just like them and they thought the Pediatric Unit was very cool too.
