30 Days to Becoming a Better Parent Day 5: Be a kid yourself

January 16, 2014 by dadofdivas

be a kid

In life as a parent you tend to think that you need to above the fray and provide a lasting impression of adult authority. Though in many cases this is important, as it shows your children the importance of demeanor in adulthood, there is something to be said to remaining a kid at heart. I find that when I go out, find my own inner child and simply take the time to hula hoop, play soccer, slide down the slide, play hide and seek or other such fun endeavors with my girls, I feel alive again and I tend to forget about the cares of the world for a while.

Though I know that I can at times be an adult and my inner child becomes hidden, I know that I have to continue to try hard to find this inner child and help it to remain active. Not only to stay young at heart, but also to help my girls see the importance of always having fun with life.

In researching this post I came up with a number of resources that I wanted to share with you all:

  • http://www.healyourlife.com/blogs/wayne-dyer-blog/its-good-to-be-a-kid
  • http://freedomfromtheknown.com/i-dont-wanna-grow-up-how-to-play-like-a-big-kid/

Today’s task is for you read the information listed within the above three sites and to do as many of the items as you can in the next day. Once you do them, come back here and let us all know what you did and how it made you feel. Also, let us know what other Kid like things you plan to do in the future.

I am interested to know where you find inner child disappearing and what you have done in the past or what you plan to do to find this inner child again. If you are so inclined please leave your responses in a comment below or link to a blog post if you are going to commit to joining me on this journey so that others can learn from you as well.

Good luck with day 5 and I look forward to your thoughts and comments!
